We will usually need the site address, a brief description of the proposals, relevant drawings and any planning conditions or correspondence you may have received to date. Reviewing this information allows us to recommend a proportionate scope tailored to the project, rather than applying a standard package.
Tom established Bonnert Acoustics with more than ten years’ experience in acoustic consultancy, having worked at leading consultancies in Manchester, Birmingham and London. His experience includes complex residential, commercial, educational and hospitality projects, planning noise and vibration assessments, expert-witness work and senior technical leadership.Tom is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA), and holds a degree in Acoustic Engineering from the University of Salford.Tom was a contributing author to the acoustics section of the British Council for Offices Guide to Fit-Out 2025.
Projects are undertaken and directly overseen by Company Director Tom Bonnert providing continuity from the initial discussion and survey through to the assessment, reporting and any subsequent design or planning advice.
We will explain the issue clearly and provide practical mitigation measures appropriate to the project. These may include changes to glazing, ventilation, building construction, plant selection, barriers or operating procedures. Our focus is on workable solutions, not simply identifying non-compliance, and we would typically host a meeting/call to discuss and enable questions to be answered.
Yes, our advice can span from early support during feasibility and planning discussions, throughout the RIBA design periods (i.e. RIBA Stage 2 to Stage 4) including compliance to the Acoustic Regulations under the Building Safety (i.e. Building Safety Act 2022), through construction, and at commissioning and completion testing. Continued involvement helps ensure that the original acoustic strategy is carried through into the completed building to achieve a compliant build.
Yes. Bonnert Acoustics is Manchester based but provides acoustic consultancy services throughout the UK.
